As a former CIO of the US Department of Transportation (US DOT), with oversight of over $3.5B in annual technology investments, over 3,000 IT employees, 10,000 contractors, and over 200 major systems Nitin Pradhan, the co-founder of ScaleUP USA, was one of the top government leaders doing business with the private sector. Nitin realized then, that most US citizens and businesses, especially beyond the Washington DC metro region, had little to no understanding of how to sell to the US Federal Government and therefore do not even try or try incorrectly.
This makes doing business with the US Federal Government harder than it needs to be! For example, company’s business development and sales executives continue to make sales calls in the vast wilderness of the Federal Government without having a clear understanding of where the need may actually be, if funds are available or will be available or what contracts the Federal Government can actually utilize to buy the product or service. Then NBC news media authors an attractive sponsored story for the company sponsor embeds the mini-course in it and embarks on a one-week social media marketing campaign for social engagement, brand awareness, and course registrations. Each new registered user/learner is reported to the company course sponsor so they can follow up with the registering party for additional information, one on one discussions, and the potential sale of the product.
